Patients scheduled for theatre
- Patients that are scheduled for theatre should not eat from midnight on the night before the operation, unless if it is otherwise indicated by your treating doctor.
- If you are scheduled as a day case, it is important to arrange transport home for the afternoon.
- In some cases it might be safer not to drive yourself home after the procedure due to drowsiness and impaired coordination. Please try to make other arrangements for transport if possible. Feel free to discuss this with your doctor or anaesthetist.
- Your medical aid will not pay for you to be admitted the day before your operation and will not pay for an overnight stay if you are booked for day case surgery.
